Tess Memorial Capitol Campaign

The organization that trained Tess to be a service dog is undergoing a fundamental and positive change. CCI Northeast Region has been training and placing dogs for the disabled for the past 18 years. Today it has outgrown the space that has served it for so long and must therefore move. In moving they will be able to expand services to underserved consumers. Once CCI moves to its’ new home individuals who could not afford to stay in area hotels for 2 weeks of training, will now be able too. Under the new center plans there will be dorms, kitchen, expanded kennel capacity, huge training rooms and much more.

There is nothing more beautiful than the dedication that a service's dog has to its partner. Tess was no exception; she was the epitome of service dog excellence and loved nothing more than to work. Her loss was a serious blow to my family and me. She had become a member of our pack. It is in her honor and that of my current service dog, Janus that I ask you to contribute towards creating independence at the new Canine Companions for Independence Center in Medford Long Island. Tess and Myself conducted over 200 educational workshops and fundraisers all in an effort to increase the Independence of individuals with disabilities.

Because dogs like Tess make such a difference in our lives, ThisAbled hopes to raise enough money to build even a small portion of the new center to honor her memory. I believe that everyone can make a difference even if you just send $1 dollar you will be honoring the great work dogs like Tess do. These funds will be used strictly for the new facility in Medford, New York, which serves the whole North East Region.
